CHARTER BOAT MANAGEMENT
British flagged vessels wishing to operate as charter boats in Spain
require a safety compliance certificate from the MCA (Maritime&
Coastguard Agency) as well as Spanish charter licenses and the appointment
of a local managing agent.
We will prepare your boat for the MCA safety inspection in order to
obtain the safety compliance certificate (SCVC).This process includes
a safety equipment survey, installing additional equipment such as
extra fire extinguishers and a liferaft, as well as modifying engine
room fire protection, deck hatches and freeboard heights, etc.
Once your boat has been prepared, we will arrange a professional surveyor
to complete the compliance survey and then send off for the SCVC (Small
Commercial Vessel Certificate).
We will collate all the necessary documentation for the Spanish authorities
to issue the Balearic charter licenses and also apply for the local
port of embarkation license. This will include obtaining legalized
translations where required.
The Spanish Maritime authorities introduced a new directive regarding
charter boats in 2005. All licensed charter vessels must have a waste
water holding tank and this installation must be inspected by a Spanish
marine surveyor.
We will arrange this inspection (including the lift out for checking
the skin fittings if required). If your boat does not have a holding
tank, we can quote for one to be intalled. |
